Established in 1988 by Dr. Lawrence Jones and Randall Kusunose, P.T., O.C.S., the Jones Institute offers
post-graduate Strain Counterstrain seminars for health care professionals throughout the United States and internationally.
Dr. Jones developed this innovative approach for the treatment of neuromuscular and musculo-skeletal
disorders in the 1950’s.  The Jones Institute is the only organization that provides instructors who are
certified and authorized to teach the Strain Counterstrain technique by Dr. Jones and the Jones Institute.

The FIRST  SCS Visceral and Lymphatic course was a tremendous success.  All the students agreed that the course far exceeded any expectations.
   Some comments from the students:
¬  “This takes Counterstrain in a totally new direction, very powerful.”
¬   “Counterstrain offers me clinical approaches to address the most difficult patients.”
¬  “Techniques are powerful but easy to perform.”

Do not let any previous experience with visceral techniques shy you away from trying the new SCS Visceral and Lymphatics course.  This is classic StrainCounterstrain with tenderpoints to diagnose each dysfunction and a gentle indirect technique to release it.  The techniques are easy to perform and are astonishingly effective when used alone or inconjunction with SCS for the musculoskeletal and / or cranial systems.  Developed by Brian Tuckey PT, JSCCI (certified SCS instructor) the V&L course will present 63  new techniques to address dysfunction in the cardiopulmonary system, the urogenital system, digestive system, valves and sphincters, the lymphatic system and more.  These restrictions can cause common musculoskeletal symptoms like low back pain, sciatica, SI pain, hip pain, rib pain, headaches, UE symptoms and more.  New research (presented in the course) demonstrates definitively that fascia and lymphatic vessels contain contractile, smooth muscle cells called myofibroblasts. After adding these techniques to your armamentarium, you will be able to correct smooth muscle dysfunction, not just skeletal muscle dysfunction and have an instant impact on the autonomic nervous system.  Even a clinician that is already getting impressive results with a high percentage of your patients using the basic SCS techniques will find this  material to be invaluable and often the missing piece of the puzzle especially with chronic pain patients that have been previously treated. You will be very impressed with Brian’s knowledge in this area and his skillful application of SCS principles in the development of the evaluation and treatment techniques in the visceral and lymphatic systems. His extensive study, tireless observation and superior manual skills have made him an expert and innovator in this field.                             *Pre-requisite:  SCS I or II

Jones Institute Europe (JIE) is now a reality and will be hosting SCS courses throughout Europe in 2010.  It is based out of Torino, Italy and is managed by Erik Gandino, an Italian Osteopath.  He is a skilled clinician and will be taking the SCS certification test soon.  His ultimate goal is to reach instructor level and teach SCS around the world.  The JIE website is near completed with displays in English, French, Italian and Dutch.  It has been a monumental undertaking but Erik has been working very hard to get it set up and ready for 2010.  The website can be accessed at www.jiscs.eu or www.jonesinstitute.eu and courses will be advertised by the end of the year.  Questions? or to contact Dr. Gandino, please email:  info@jiscs.eu

The Jones Institute is still working with French seminar provider Kine' Formations who will be organizing all of our courses in Paris, France now and in the future.  Kine' Formations contact information is listed below.  Our international course shedule is posted below for anyone interested in attending a course overseas or a JSCC (certified counterstrainer) that wants to lab assist.
