10 Tips for Staying Well Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

The Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) continues to make headlines across the globe, with news outlets reporting to-the-minute updates as the virus spreads. Whether you’re fearful, dismissive, or simply mindfully cautious, there are no better resources than the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for factual updates and practical advice on how to stay well.

The Jones Institute has also taken proper precautions by waiving tuition transfer fees for Counterstrain courses until further notice. Please note as of March 10, 2020, all courses will continue as scheduled. The following advice is highly recommended as we believe prevention is the best defense against infectious disease.

10 Best Practices for Avoiding Illness

  1. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub.

  2. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, work, or school, especially when someone is ill.

  3. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids and eat nutritious foods.

  4. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

  5. Practice respiratory etiquette and cover your nose and mouth when coughing/sneezing.

  6. Avoid close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms.

  7. Stay home if you are sick.

  8. Send your patients home if they are sick.

  9. Support and boost your immune system.

  10. Counterstrain yourself and others!

Tips for Natural Viral Immunity

  • As a first line of defense, enhance your bowel and digestive health with Zypan, Lactic Acid Yeast, Zymex, Lact-Enz, raw apple cider vinegar (i.e. Braggs), and/or fermented foods.

  • Eliminate refined sugar. The immune system’s activity is reduced by 70% for several hours after the consumption of refined sugar.

  • Drink plenty of water.

  • Add coconut oil and raw garlic to your diet for antiviral support.

Top Products for Natural Viral Immunity

  • MediHerb’s Viranon (licorice, St. John's wort, thuja): All three of these herbs have antiviral activity. Licorice facilitates the killing of cells which have latent viral infections, particularly in the herpes category. Licorice inhibits viral replication and inactivates viruses in some cases. St. John's wort interferes with viral replication of enveloped viruses such as 2019-nCoV and viruses with a lipid coating around them. The active ingredients bind to the lipid envelope and interfere with protein transcription, rendering the virus non-effective. Thuja is an antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral.

  • Thieves oil or Now Food’s Nature's Shield (lemon, clove, eucalyptus, rosemary and cinnamon bark): These oils make the bacteria permeable and stop the virus from replicating. Dilute per bottle and mist it (not ultrasonic), make spray bottles, or roll on topically to breathe it in.
